For this project the Education Department of the Shedd Aquarium commissioned me to build a rather large-scale model of an Amazon hut that they use during outreach programs to schools. The hut is completely collapsible and fits neatly inside an oversized, hard-shell case. As the students learn more about the Amazon and it’s seasonal changes they are challenged to figure out how the Amazon people protect themselves during the varying water cycles.
